A is for Amphitrite is an alphabet book for all ages, showcasing the spectacular beauty of Ucluelet’s Wild Pacific Trail. Regular walks along Ukee's beloved trail inspired me to combine my photography and prose in an attempt to capture and share the majesty of our rugged west coast environment. With A is for Amphitrite I have tried to capture, with words and images, the magic I encounter every time I walk Ucluelet's Wild Pacific Trail. During the writing process the elements fell quite naturally into the alphabetical format, although some letters were more challenging than others. X and Z come to mind! Luckily the trail truly is eXtraordinary!
Some photos required extra patience. The ever-changing Pacific never let me down. It was, however, surprisingly difficult to get the perfect banana slug shot. I can only imagine what some tourists
thought, coming around a bend to find me flat out on the trail, camera trained on one of our resident slimy creatures. Some stopped to chat...(the tourists, not the slugs!) Life is never dull on the Wild Pacific Trail! |
